-Upon commissioning a portrait Robert Schoeller will generally fly to your location for a photo sitting and to discuss your desires for the portrait and determine the portrait's composition. It is important to communicate as many ideas and feelings as possible. This might include such things as favorite artists or works of art from the past, your favorites of Robert Schoellers works, and preferences in style and mood. All of these will ultimately help to attain a portrait that you will treasure for the rest of your lives.
-From a review of the photos, Robert Schoeller then works with you to select the precise pose and face for the portrait and any further details are addressed. This is usually done immediately following the photo sitting. By the end of the appointment, the basic composition of the portrait will be completely agreed upon.
-Robert Schoeller then returns to his studio where he will begin work on your portrait. If some issues about the composition are not yet resolved, these will be handled either on the phone or through the mail, perhaps by sending photos or a sketch, as needed.
-Once the portrait nears completion either a film or digital proof will be submitted for review. In the event any changes are desired, Robert Schoeller makes any needed corrections and a second proof is submitted. This process continues until you are completely satisfied with the portrait proof.
-At this juncture many clients choose to take advantage of Robert Schoeller's hand-crafted frames chosen and designed to enhance the portrait he has created for you. Each frame receives a custom shade of gold for your portrait and the areas and colors used in patina are directed by the artist to ensure the frame enhances the overall impression of the portrait and does not detract from any of it's qualities. If you would like his assistance in making a frame selection, he will be happy to work with you and will help you to select a frame that is absolutely perfect for your painting.
-Once approved, arrangements are made for the crating and shipping of the painting.
-In the unlikely event that you notice something which you are unhappy with upon arrival you are free to return the portrait to the studio for any corrections.
